Exuding an ambience of elegance and beauty the British Pullman was originally conceived as a "Palace on Wheels" with each lavishly appointed carriage an original masterpiece of the 1920's meticulously restored by skilled craftsmen. Plush comfortable upholstery, intricate marquetry, inlaid mosaic floors and solid brass fittings all delicately illuminated by softly-shaded lamps to set the scene.

Northern Belle embodies the distinctive opulence and craftsmanship associated with the classic 'Belle' trains of the 1930's. Each carriage bears the name of a stately home and is furnished with specially commissioned designs, fabrics and marquetry, all ensuring your experience aboard the Northern Belle will transport you to an age of romance and adventure.

Sample Tours

Grand Tour of Great Britain - 7 days / 6 nights

DAY 1 Friday
Depart London on the Northern Belle and enjoy a champagne brunch before arriving at York for a visit to the stately home of Castle Howard. A private tour of the house is followed by afternoon tea in the Grecian Hall. Dinner is on board as the train glides past the historic cities of Durham and Newcastle. Upon arrival at Edinburgh transfer to the Balmoral Hotel, an elegant Edwardian Hotel, for the next three nights.

DAY 2 Saturday
A Tour of Edinburgh with free time to explore. Tonight dine from a choice of select restaurants.

Day 3 Sunday
Breakfast on board en route to the Inner Hebrides inhabited with an abundance of wildlife. From Oban sail to the Isle of Mull then to Duart Castle the ancestral home of the Laird of Lachlan, head of the Maclean clan. Enjoy a wee dram before sailing back to the mainland for a Scottish dinner aboard the Northern Belle as you return to Edinburgh.

Day 4 Monday
Journey along one of the most scenic of routes, the Settle and Carlisle railway, and enjoy lunch on board before arriving at the picturesque, medieval town of Chester. Transfer to the Chester Grosvenor Hotel for one night.

Day 5 Tuesday
Board the Northern Belle for a visit to Bodnant Gardens in Wales. Then re-board for the journey to Bath passing through the scenic Cotswolds en route. Transfer to The Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath.

Day 6 Wednesday
Explore the many sites of interest in Bath including the ancient Roman Baths. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 7 Thursday
The Flying Scotsman, the world's famous steam engine, hauls the Northern Belle for the journey back to London stopping along the route to visit Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. Take lunch on board during the return journey to London.

Price per person £2,650 based on two people sharing. Single supplement is on request.
